I have been fortunate enough to cover this festival for a few years now and I would like to thank those that make it possible every year for me to do so.
The film opens with a man lying on a hospital bed, having tubes in so many of parts of his body.
Moments later we see that he is not alone as there is a doctor tending to him and a young woman at the very next bed to his right.
They both have amnesia just as unaware of where they are as we are. This does make for some interesting filmmaking.
The "doctor" is not all there, the performers really have to put their all into their work as they are all the film has to rely on and perform they do.
It has been sometime where a thriller has kept me engrossed and interested enough to wonder how the ending would all turn out, it does not disappoint.
We are disjointed as the two are , following their thoughts of who they are and how they got to the old sanitarium. The doctor is caring and yet at the snap of a finger can be deceiving and cruel.
"The Man"(Angus Mcfadyen)convinces the male and female patients(Thomas Cocquerel & Camille Stopps)
that they are in the best of care. Time will tell that he has something else planned, what that is we are never told or shown.
There is some really good tension built throughout the film, camera work, editing , the score , the lighting.
This is one of the better films that I have seen this year.
There are no camera tricks or CGI , just a well done film with solid performances from all the actors involved and some great directing.
