It's getting close to Christmas , so like many people at this time of year you want to enjoy another round of Die Hard.
Well, don't worry your Christmas wish is being figured out as we speak.
Word has it that Len Wiseman(Live Free Or Die Hard) is directing this one as well and we have a very basic title McClane
It's not very often when an action star can get almost as many kills in as a movie serial killer -Jason Vorhees or Freddy Krueger.
Bruce Willis who is now 63 years of age at the time of this post.
“You can tell our intention by the fact that the title page we handed in says, McClane,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed to Empire. “We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before.”
The first part of the film will be with a young John McClane when he is starting out in the force in 1976, the casting is still not been done for the person to play his younger version.
The second part of the film will be about John McClane now and of course will be Bruce Willis back in the role.
“I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce,” di Bonaventura added when asked about rumors the younger incarnation will get more screen time. “The idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”

Steve recently sat down with 20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman at CinemaCon, and during the course of their wide-ranging conversation the executive spoke quite a bit about the story of A Good Day to Die Hard and what makes the film different from other entries in the franchise. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.
Steve asked Rothman what he could tell us about the story for this fifth Die Hard, and Rothman responded by talking about what sets the film apart:
“I love this one. It’s called A Good Day to Die Hard, and two things make it new: 1. John McClane, the ultimate American hero, goes to Russia. So talk about a fish out of water, he’s completely out of water. And 2. It’s really a father-son story, which is that John McClane’s been a great cop his whole life but he’s been a pretty lousy father. He has a grown son who he’s not really been in much touch with, and McClane thinks the son’s a fuck up—that’s a technical term.”
So what brings everyone’s favorite hardened cop to Russia? His son, of course:
“So he goes to Russia, he thinks, to bail his son out of jail, and it turns out the son’s not a fuck up, he’s the antithesis of that. In fact, the apple has not fallen far from the tree, the apple has not fallen from the tree, which is that the son is a badder ass John McClane than John McClane.”
Essentially the set up is that McClane reunites with his estranged son, who turns out to be John McClane 2.0. As far as the villains go, Rothman said The McClanes make quite a few enemies overseas:
“It comes to the point in the story where they’re basically the most wanted men in the entire Soviet Union, and it’s the two of them against all of the bad guys. I’ve just gotta say, it’s a classic, classic Die Hard.”
Though I was really hoping to see Mary Elizabeth Winstead return as McClane’s daughter from Live Free or Die Hard, it sounds like they may possibly be setting the franchise up for a new lead in the future. Given that McClane’s son is “a badder ass than John McClane,” I could see Courtney being poised to lead the series in a few years with Willis taking a smaller role in subsequent installments. Fox took their sweet time settling on just the right actor to take the McClane Jr. role, so hopefully Courtney impresses when the release date rolls around.

It has been confirmed that Cole Hauser will play the villian in the latest Die Hard film. He and Willis have worked together before on "Tears of the Sun" & "Hart's War"

Seeing as there is so much interest about this film I am going to try and keep it updated as often as possible.
Parts for two sinister Russian characters named Komorov and Irina - who are almost certainly involved with the aforementioned terrorist plot in Good Day to Die Hard – have now been filled. The former role will be occupied by award-winning German actor Sebastian Koch(above left) (The Lives of Others, Unknown), while Komorov’s villainous female counterpart will be bought to life by Russian model-turned-actress Yulia Snigir(above right).(Source: Variety)

This being my favorite action film of all time I was curious as to why they needed any sequal to this film.
But being that Hollywood is a Business first and about art last they kept bringing the sequals out.
That being said as of today Oct 13th 2011 it has been known that the title for the new Die Hard film is

Now to update yet again!
Jai Courtney(above)(Spartacus: Blood & Sand) has been confirmed to be playing Jack McClane , John McClane's son.
This was confirmed a couple of weeks ago, however I chose not to mention anything until it is a couple of weeks in.
But hey now 20th Century Fox announced yesterday that they are yet making another "Die Hard" with Bruce Willis as John McClane.
I felt that once they killed off Hans Gruber(Alan Rickman)the best villian since Darth Vader(according to me)it was not going to be very interesting after that.
I was of course wrong and enjoy the rest of the series however will we ever be able to:
"Come down to the coast, we'll have a good time"?
Meaning that as enjoyable as the others may be they will never hold a candle to the first.

Tom Rothman, co-chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment, appeared on Jim Rome this morning to announce the future of the Die Hard franchise. Apparently Rome is a huge fan of the Die Hard series and somehow scored the exclusive. Details can be found after the jump.
Here is what was revealed:
- Die Hard 5 will be titled A Good Day to Die Hard
- Shooting begins in January 2012
- The sequel will be released on February 14th, 2013 (Valentine’s Day).
- The story is set in Russia and begins with John McClane heading to Moscow to sweet talk some cops into letting his apparently-wayward son out of jail for something he did, but when he gets there, things surrounding his son’s arrest are not as they appear and world-threatening terrorist hijinks ensue.
- McClane, Jr. has yet to be cast.
- They still don’t know if it will be rated PG-13 or R.
The John McClane Jr news gives me flashbacks of Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams in Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Lets hope it turns out better than that franchise addition. - John Moore (Max Payne, The Omen, Behind Enemy Lines) was chosen by Willis to direct.
- Skip Woods (Swordfish, Hitman, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, A-Team) wrote the screenplay.
- Bruce Willis has said that it would have to expand in scope and go “worldwide”. Willis has said that the series needs to expand in scope. The original film had John McClane “trapped in a building”, in Die Harder he was “trapped in an airport”, Die Hard With a Vengeance expanded the scope to “New York City” and Live Free or Die Hard expanded the threat to the United States. So as you might have guessed it, Willis says the fifth film would have to go further: “Well it’s got to go worldwide.”
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead has recently said that she doesn’t expect to return for Die Hard 5 as John’s daughter Lucy Gennaro McClane.
