The ever-brilliant Viola Davis (Fences, The Help, “How to Get Away with Murder”) stars as General Nansica, the formidable leader of an all-female army known as the Agojie. This sisterhood’s fierceness is unlike anything the world has ever seen. When West African leader Oba Ade (Jimmy Odukoya) and Portuguese colonizer Santo Ferreira (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) come to the shores of Dahomey it is up to the General to train the next generation of young fighters to defend their lands or lose their kingdom and freedom forever.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard, The Secret Life of Bees) and led by Davis, the film showcases a star-studded cast including, Thuso Mbedu (Is'Thunzi,“The Underground Railroad”), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel, No Time to Die), Sheila Atim (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, “The Underground Railraod”), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, After We Collided) and John Boyega (Star Wars: Episode VII – the Force Awakens, Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi). eOne co-financed and produced the film with TriStar Pictures.
