TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE Movie Review, Available Today February 28th, 2023 On 4K --Dark Sky Films

This film still works, it still gets under the skin and makes you think twice about visiting places you are not familiar with. However, times have changed, and it's not that easy to get lost anymore--or is it? People go missing every day.

Some movies don't hold up a few years after they are released and I have seen a few lately that I have revisited after a good number of years, and I question what I saw in the film.

Here we have a film that is 49 years old, I literally just finished watching it about ten minutes ago.

The one thing that stood out for me more than anything else is the massive size of Leatherface, also that he actually runs after his victim(s) unlike Micheal Myers and Jason Vorhees, who would later dominate the screens later in the 70s, early 80s, respectfully.

The story is very basic, a group of young people gets into a mess when their van is running low on gas and they decide to hang around and look for the local swimming hole.

Some of the most intense scenes have been(almost) spoiled for those who have not seen the film. When the young woman is looking for her boyfriend and she runs into Leatherface, also the dinner scene had me sweating a little. It's been many years since I have seen this film.

I remember first seeing this on a very, very grainy VHS copy that I and my brother Pat had rented. As it turned out, we had rented it exactly 20 years later than when the events actually took place.

This transfer has been approved by Tobe Hopper & restored in 4K.

It comes with a great number of special features on both editions of the films. Now, if you have plans to buy this edition of the film, please note that the film itself is only available on 4K. Both editions have a Blu-Ray included, however, they are only bonus features.
