Breakout Movie Review, Starring Louis Mandylor, Brian Krause & Kristos Andrews On Digital & DVD April 11, 2023

I was actually wondering if Louis Mandylor was going to make it past all of the giant men who were literally in his way, one who might even make Shaq look small, no joke. I think they did the casting at a local gym, a good amount of the men are tanks!

The story starts out with a chase and a shootout between a robber and an undercover police officer, who is killed in the shootout. Vincent(Kristos Andrews-above) is sentenced and sent to prison.

Vincent is visited by his father Alex(Louis Mandylor, above) who has been out of Vincent's life and wants to try and fix their relationship.
The story is well written and the action keeps moving, edited, and directed well. The acting is solid from everyone involved, bonus points to Brain Krause(below) as villain Max Chandler.

Alfred Hitchcock once said "The More successful the villain, the more successful the picture".
I share this quote here because Brain Krause is one of the best villains I have seen in a while now, he's solid, unrelenting, and in absolute control of himself and his environment. This, of course, would not be possible without a strong story and a director who has the capacity to get the best performances from its actors.

The film also has Tom Sizemore, in one of his last performances.
He plays a police officer who, very similar to Al Powell in Die Hard, speaks to Alex outside of the prison, unsure of who Alex really is.

Mr. Sizemore was one of my favorite tough guys on film.
may he Rest in Peace.

With a good number of movies, for the most part, clocking in at 2+ hours this was a nice 83 minutes, short and to the point. Packing a lot of action and tension in those few minutes with some great hand-to-hand combat scenes, which is lacking for the most part in action films.
If you are looking for a good and enjoyable action film, may I recommend Breakout?
