Aitamaako’ Tamisskapi Natosi: Before The Sun--Logan Red Crow Has The Heart Of A Champion In Engaging Documentary

Documentaries are a great way to learn about things in our world, things we normally would not be able to see otherwise. But when it comes to certain things such as wildlife or scenic documentaries, they are basically a dime a dozen. Then, there are those that are so unique and well done, they make you pay closer attention.

Logan Red Crow(above) is here as her grandmother before she is entering her first relay competition, a very challenging and dangerous competition. The relay is one rider and three horses on one race course. They ride each horse around the track once and then dismount and mount the next horse until the last horse and hopefully first place as well. The dangerous part is that this is all done bareback, with no saddle.
She prepares for the first race by wearing her grandmother's moccasins and applying some colorful wrapping around them to protect them.
Very much like a boxer would tape their hands before a fight.
Logan Red Crow, of course, has a different relationship with her horses as does her father, who is nothing but supportive of her wanting to race, but in agreement with her mother that she get back to her studies. She has such drive and determination that one cannot but get behind her and cheer her on, after all she successfully campaigned for the first female relay race in Canada and it actually happened and we get to join her during that race!
If you like to cheer for the underdog, this is a documentary, nothing is scripted or false, a lot of love from her entire family and the heart of a champion on her beautiful horses.
