Megalomaniac-One Of The Most Disturbing Films of This, Or Any Year--In Select Theaters Today-On Digital September 26

It's often hard to write about movies that are disturbing and yet, done so well you can't help but take notice. Not since I saw Martyrs(2008) has a film got under my skin so much. Yes, there have been some movies that make you uncomfortable for various reasons, Peter Greenaway's The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, comes to mind as well, also where I first saw Helen Mirren.  

If you have not seen these films, be warned, they are not for everyone.

Brother & Sister Felix & Martha live in a very large home in Belgium, Martha works at night, while her brother spends his time killing women and disposing of their bodies in garbage bags by the roadside.

Their father was also a serial killer, this is not at all glorified as a lot of films often do, it's just something that is in his blood, It's like when Martha goes to work, he has work to do, when he is done he just calmly goes back home, cleans up and acts as if it's a normal thing to do.

Felix (Benjamin Ramon) is cold and such a great performance of a man who is so shut off from his feelings and can sense when Martha is untrue to him, making the audience unsure of what he is capable of, don't worry we quickly find out.

Martha is treated poorly by her co-workers, raped, and forced to do other things to a man who takes pleasure in calling her ugly and fat, he's a despicable kind of human, but then so are they, he just doesn't know it.

Equally as disturbing as what takes place in the washroom is that their boss knows that it is happening and listens to what is happening, it's a real WTF moment--you can do something!

The movie is like a car wreck, as you can't take your eyes off of it and yet I was feeling really off about the entire thing and I guess that is a good thing, they accomplished what they set out to do.

The mood is captured in the way the film is framed and shot, and the overall set design, something out of a nightmare that you can't wake up from.

The picture below is of Felix in a church watching a woman, who sees him, we switch to his viewpoint, which really gives it a darker tone, overall. Just the way it's shot and one of the few scenes that was almost peaceful.

I don't think this a movie I will be able to watch again, or want to, some are just so disturbing with so many -what the hell am I watching scenes- it's hell on screen!

Felix & Martha are the devil's children, they lived in a house with a demon, and murderer, and they have followed in dear old dads footsteps.
