French Girl-Movie Review-Charming, Heart Warming Comedy In Theaters March 15, 2024

I had a lot of fun watching this film,  the warm charm the film has, the almost innocence in the performance of Zach Braff, also the chemistry that he and Evelyne Brochu feel like an old-school romance from the '60s'.

Evelyne Brochu plays Sophie Tremblay and Zach Braff is Gordon Kinski, we can tell from the very start that they are in love.

It has romance, comedy, and tragedy, but it has a warm-hearted feel through most of the film. A big secret is found out, that is not a secret to us if you have seen the trailer--they give it away, but it was handled in an adult manner, for the most part. Noses are broken, people are knocked out and there's an angry swan that doesn't like Gordon which is a going joke for a good bit, but fun.

Sophie & Gordon live in New York, Ruby(Vanessa Hudgens)finds Sophie & tells her that she is opening a restaurant and tells her she would like her help to get the business going.

They had been in a relationship before Sophie & Gordon had met, but it's not something that she has shared with Gordon, yet.

Sophie tells Gordan that she has been invited to go to Quebec and help her friend, Gordon tells her that he would like to join her, he's on break from teaching now as it's summer holidays.

The meeting of your loved ones' parents and family is always an awkward thing and it's well done here with Zach Braff accidentally kissing Sohpie's grandma on the lips when they first meet. Her family live in a beautiful home, but getting there is half the fun, Gordons father gives him a pill to help him with his anxiety of flying, he hasn't been on a plane since he was a child, and accidentally slips him a roofie.

One day when Sophie is at work, Gordon finds his way into her old room at her parent's house on the farm where they are staying, finding an old photo album, as he's looking through it, a picture falls out and hits the floor. Picking it up is a picture of Sophie with Ruby wrapped in sheets with "Orgasm Queens" written across the bottom of the picture, Gordon is shocked and tells Sophie upon her return home at 2 am.

She apologizes for not telling him, but she was going to, eventually, but Gordon is not convinced and is offended that she is working with her ex.

He had spent the day slaughtering a lamb with her father and helping her brother learn English, so he could pass an exam and become a police officer.

Some scenes play out like a situation comedy, but this is a delightful little film overall.

The shots of Quebec are lovely and almost serve as scenic tours when they are out & about in the city, with great old buildings and some breathtaking views.
