ORAH-Movie Review, Available On VOD Now-- LevelFilm

There have been a good number of revenge films over the many decades of film, but some stand out amongst the rest. There is a lot to be said of the overall shock and heartache of losing someone close to you and then considering potential revenge, but it's not always that cut and dry.

The difference maker here is that ORAH(played by Oyin Oladejo) has a few scenes where she breaks down, not just from the loss of her son, but from some of the things she feels that she has to do in justice for her son. When I was watching the film, I said to myself that I hope Oyin gets nominated for some awards for her performance, as I can't remember the last time I saw someone cry so quickly onscreen.

Well, I woke up this morning to the news below:

As tense as a modern action thriller can be these days, this is quite a great accomplishment and deserves to be seen by people who enjoy this kind of film.

John Wick, Sisu, & so many are told from a male perspective and are often from a person who becomes so shut off from their emotions to do what needs to be done, there are a good number of ones with women as the leads and two that really stick out for me are Villioness(2017) & Furie(2019).

Equally as powerful in his performance is Lucky Ejim(above) as Bami Hazar, who is responsible for the death of Orah's son, Orah has a better plan for Bami but soon finds that it's not going to work out than she was originally told it would and has to take matters into her own hands.

There is a gunfight that happens in a parking lot, Orah and her friend Vincent are sitting in his car after having a visit and he sees someone coming up to the car from behind in the driver's seat side window.

It's Lace (Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama, above), who is the heavy for Bami Hazar, a very tight shot, well-edited scene happens with Orah dodging bullets between the cars seats, very tense little scene for the few minutes it's actually happening.

Overall this is one of the best films I have seen this year, there is enough tight and tough action to keep you watching and enough heartfelt moments that will keep you rooting for Orah and the justice she is searching for her son at all costs.

LevelFilm is releasing the film here in Canada and is now available on Video On Demand.
