CBC's Saint-Pierre to Premiere on January 6th Exclusive To The CBC & CBC GEM

CBC and Hawco Productions shared the broadcast and streaming premiere date for a new, CBC original drama SAINT-PIERRE (10 x 60), an episodic police procedural series filmed in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, France, and St. John’s, Newfoundland. 

This new series will be coming to CBC and CBC Gem on Monday, January 6 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) and stars Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Jack Ryan) as Fitz, French actress Joséphine Jobert (Death in Paradise) as Arch and James Purefoy as Sean Gallagher (Rome, Sex Education).

SAINT-PIERRE is the creation of Allan Hawco, Robina Lord-Stafford, and Perry Chafe, with Hawco and Lord-Stafford as Showrunners. Hawco, Lord-Stafford, and Chafe along with John Vatcher, Janine Squires, and Erin Sullivan, serve as Executive Producers. The pilot episode is directed and executive produced by TJ Scott, and additional episodes are directed by John Vatcher, Winnifred Jong, and Vanessa Masui. The series is produced in association with global film and TV studio FIFTH SEASON, which is also handling global distribution on the show. 

In addition to Jobert, Hawco and Purefoy, the series includes Benz Antoine (Four Brothers, Get Rich or Die Tryin’) as Marcus, Erika Prevost (The Boys) as Patty and Jean-Michel Le Gal (Take This Waltz, French Exit) as Renuf.


SYNOPSIS

After the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector, Donny “Fitz” Fitzpatrick digs too deeply into a local politician’s nefarious activity, he is exiled to work in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon - the French Territory nestled in the Atlantic Ocean. Fitz’s arrival disrupts the life of Deputy Chief Geneviève “Arch“ Archambault, a Parisian transplant who is in Saint-Pierre for her own intriguing reasons. SAINT-PIERRE is a police procedural with French star Josephine Jobert (Death in Paradise) as Arch, Canadian star Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle, Jack Ryan) as Fitz, and James Purefoy as Sean Gallagher (Rome, Sex Education, Pennyworth) rounding out the stellar team.

As if by fate, these two seasoned officers — with very different policing skills and approaches — are forced together to solve unique and exciting crimes. Although the islands seem like a quaint tourist destination, the idyllic façade conceals the worst kind of criminal activity which tend to wash up on its beautiful shores. At first at odds and suspicious of each other, Arch and Fitz soon discover that they are better together… a veritable crime-fighting force.

ALLAN HAWCO, Acclaimed Actor, Writer, and Executive Producer, is one of the country’s most recognizable stars, whose wide range of talents appeal to audiences of all ages. He has the unique ability to connect to the viewer as an actor and from behind the scenes, as a writer and producer. He divides his time between his home in Newfoundland, Toronto, New York and Los Angeles. Allan is recognized for his role in the hit CBC television drama/comedy Republic of Doyle (2010-2015). Allan played the lead, Jake Doyle, the roguish and irreverent private investigator and served as the show’s head-writer, exec producer and showrunner for the six season run. Republic of Doyle has been sold to markets around the world, including syndication across the U.S. The show is now a leading show on streaming networks such as Amazon Prime, and Netflix Worldwide. Allan executive produced Canada’s leading comedy show Son of a Critch (CBC/CW/Paramount+), starring Malcolm McDowell, Mark Critch and Benjamin Ainsworth. Son of a Critch has ranked as the most watched original Canadian comedy in Canada. Most recently, Allan serves as the co-creator, co-showrunner, executive producer and co-lead of the new CBC series Saint-Pierre, starring opposite Josephine Jobert.

Allan’s feature film credits include major roles in Director Bruce McDonald’s award winning film Weirdos, and Director/Actor Paul Gross’ Hyena Road and as the lead in Michael Melski’s, The Child Remains. Prior credits include a starring role in Love & Savagery, and Sir Richard Attenborough’s Closing the Ring with Christopher Plummer and Shirley MacLaine. Allan co-starred with Enchantos’ Carolina Gaitán in the Andrés Beltrán directed Quicksand (Lead), and Midnight at the Paradise (Lead). Allan also stars as a lead in The Breach which played on Digital and VOD this past July, 2023.


Allan’s major accolades include awards such as the Gascon Thomas Award from the National Theatre School, an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Canadian Television Hall of Fame, a Gemini nomination for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series (Republic of Doyle), and an ACTRA nomination for Best Male Actor (Love & Savagery).


Beyond film and television, Allan has maintained his roots in theatre as the co-founder of the Toronto based Company Theatre. There, he garnered rave reviews as the star in its inaugural production of Tom Murphy’s Whistle in the Dark, as well as for both his roles in Festen and Belleville. The Company Theatre has gone on to stage numerous productions, such as John, Domesticated,The Seagull, Speaking in Tongues, The Test, Marion Bridge, and the Dora Award winning Through the Leaves. Allan is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.


Josephine is a mixed race actress of French, Martinique, Spanish and Chinese origin. She comes from a large family of artists for generations (singers,actors, authors, musicians, directors of photography and more). She learned the craft of acting from her family while growing up in theater,on dubbing sets, television and film. At the age of twelve, she moved to Canada where she lived for eight years.it is in the Anglo-Saxon way that she learned acting, singing and dancing. She also learned to speak English, which she now speaks fluently. 


She moved back to France in 2005, at the age of twenty, and quickly got her first lead role in the youth series "Nos années pensions". This series combining comedy and music was an instant success with children and teenagers, attracting more than 750,000 viewers each week for three entire seasons. A real success for a series that was then broadcasted on a national French channel. At the same time, Josephine becomes the female lead in the series « Foudre » ("Summer Crush") which received, in 2008, the award for the best youth series at the TV Fiction Festival of La Rochelle and for which the actress was nominated as "best actress" at the TV Festival of Monte Carlo, in 2009. By playing the strong character of Alice, Josephine still marks, today, a whole generation of fans and is known even more by the general public in France and internationally because "Foudre" has long been among the three most exported French series in the world.


Josephine takes on many different roles such as Roxanne the cabaret dancer in "Sous le soleil de St-Tropez", Kanelle the crazy student in "Villa Karayib", Victoire the lawyer in "CUT" or Maria Chiara the singer in "Le temps est Assassin".


In 2015, that she obtained the female lead in the British series Death in Paradise, which marked a turning point in her career and strengthened her popularity internationally. The program is broadcast in 236 territories, dubbed in several languages and the episodes are watched every night by more than 9 million people in the UK. 


Recently, she was offered a lovely role in the English series "Concordia" produced by Frank Doelger ("Game of thrones") and filmed in Italy. After having worked for seven years mostly on the English front, Josephine is now back on the French screens. 


Strengthened by her childhood amongst a family of artists, the eighteen years of professional experience as an actress, the numerous trips to the four corners of the world, as well as the collaborations with various directors and teams from different countries, Joséphine has now joined forces with her mother, who has been writing ever since she was a child, to tell her own stories and start creating films and series.
