Jurassic World: Rebirth--Movie Review Available Now on 4K, Blu-Ray & DVD

Ok, a new idea, with cookie-cutter characters and a paper-thin plot. The idea? Go to an island and extract blood from three of the most dangerous dinosaurs that were created and left on the Alcatraz for Dinos, basically. With that blood, they will create a drug that will stop heart disease and save millions of lives. I like the idea, as someone who has had a heart attack and open heart surgery, this is quite different from the others in the Jurassic World films.

While this is nothing new, I mean, since King Kong from 1933, we have gone to islands as a group and always come home with a few less than what we started with. Everyone is pretty generic here, but where that is lacking, at least we have some good performances by Scarlett Johansson & Mahershala Ali, who has won two Oscars.

Nothing will surpass the original Jurassic Park film, its originality, and the great book by Michael Crichton, which I read before seeing the film.

I don't just review movies; I have over 1,600 movies in my collection, along with magazines, etc. I have some of the original collector magazines that came out for the first two films, and some assorted magazines for the first one as well. The trilogy on VHS, the DVD collectors edition & the first two on Blu-Ray, in the Stephen Spielberg collection.

There are a few tips of the hat to the original in the film. A scene in a convenience store somewhat repeats the scene in the kitchen. A new kind of brontosaurus, when the group gets a sample from one and they join another group, as they're walking away, a reprise of the original theme song plays.

Some points work; however, the one big complaint I have is the side story with the family, which is totally irrelevant to the rest of the film and only slows it down. A very uninteresting group of people, who seem bored to be there to begin with.

The film looks great, and some of the "new" dinosaurs are cool; also, some humans become dino snacks, which is always gratifying in a monster movie.

I would like to thank Universal All-Access & The Taro Group for the 4K copy I was sent, above.
