I am pleased to announce that I will be reviewing for Well Go USA again. I have been a fan of their films for many years. This film is a great start to working together again.
If you like films like John Wick, or the countless men vs 100, then the only difference here is that a woman is in the lead. Yaxi Liu (Second Life, stunt double on Mulan) is tough as nails as Mei. When her sister goes missing in Rome, Mei goes looking for her.
Within moments of the film, she has found a location that is known for bringing women for all sorts of things. She is lined up with 3 other women and told to strip. Mei doesn't, and is reprimanded by the woman in charge. Again refusing, she calls her men to strip Mei.
After she takes care of the 2 goons who were trying to remove her clothes, we have a great few fight scenes, one is below.
Mei won't give up her search for her sister, unlike a lot of movies in this catagory we are shown Mei and her sister being trained in the martial arts at a very young age. I feel that Yaxi Liu could stand next to any of the male martial artists and get their respect; she sure has mine.
It gets a little bogged down with the side story of a young man and his mother; their story is kind of annoying and just made the runtime a little longer than it needed to be.
Otherwise, the fight scenes are incredibly well choreographed, which is why someone watches these kinds of films.
If you are a fan of the action/martial arts genre, I am sure you won't be disappointed.
